Early years
V.A. Paving Inc. was founded by Virginia and Arnold Mallard in 1982 as a woman owned small business. Combined they had over 25 years in the construction industry. Their goal to provide a quality product at a competitive price earned them multiple government contracts. They quickly built a good reputation winning the coveted KSC “Woman- Owned Small Business of the Year Award” 5 times. Our reputation for quality and integrity was synonymous with our work on government facilities.
Presently
At the turn of the century, the second generation moved into the ownership role of VA Paving. Al, Debra, and Terri looked to the future by investing heavily in asphalt production, upgrading from our original 65 ton per hour portable plant, to a plant capable of producing 300 tons per hour. We then made a statement that we were ready to commit to road paving by winning the Brevard County paving contract in 2003 which led to several thousands of tons being produced at our plant.
Over the past 10 years VA Paving has produced over 2 million tons of asphalt through our single plant. In 2018 we replaced our 30-year-old Astec plant with a new state of the art Astec plant increasing production and quality. Since it was brought online it has produced over 1.2 million tons of asphalt in less than 4 years.
